Process optimisation with the Inlabtec Serial Diluter

WESSLING AG in Lyss, Switzerland, is a leading analytical service provider in the fields of environment, food, feed, water, consumer goods and cosmetics. It is part of the international WESSLING Group with 1,200 employees at over 30 locations in Europe and China. In order to be able to use the existing resources of WESSLING AG even more productively, an Inlabtec Serial Diluter was purchased for the microbiological testing of food and water. After a short introduction and familiarisation phase, the laboratory team appreciates the simple, fast, precise and comfortable work.

Before the introduction of the Serial Diluter, the laboratory team had to clean and sterilise test tubes for the serial dilutions, fill them with 9 ml dilution solution, pipette samples and vortex (mix) them. All work is now reduced to pipetting. All other unproductive work steps are eliminated because the clever Inlabtec system uses sterile, high-purity disposable pouches, thus eliminating the time-consuming preparation of test tubes. Serial dilutions are now a fast, standardised process that eliminates errors and inaccuracies caused by careless pipetting or insufficient vortexing. The reproducibility and quality of the analyses could be improved and the person-dependent differences in the germ count determinations were reduced to a minimum.

For Wessling AG, serial dilutions with the Serial Dilution System have now become simple and cost-effective. At the same time, the burden on employees and the environment has been reduced, the accuracy and reliability of the analysis results further enhanced, and the risk of inaccurate findings further reduced.
